EdgeSide HR Consulting - Associate Attorney

Background
Our client is looking for an experienced Associate Attorney to join their team! As an Associate Attorney, you will be responsible for working directly with the business to ensure that all legal matters are handled in a professional and efficient manner. The Associate Attorney will also be responsible for drafting and reviewing legal documents, assessing legal needs, review of company policies and procedures, and business and legal policies.

Associate Attorney duties and responsibilities
• Prepare correspondence and legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, briefs, affidavits, motions, and settlement agreements for contract negotiations and proceedings.
• Conduct legal research, prepare for and attend hearings and/or other legal proceedings, and provide legal counsel with the help of senior associate attorneys.
• Analyze conflicts in legal matters, advise clients on solutions, and negotiate on behalf of clients.
• Communicating with the clients to understand their case requirements, and representing them at meetings, hearings and trials.
• Updating and informing your line manager about salient developments in each case.
• Ensuring that data obtained during interactions with clients remain confidential and are stored securely.
• Assisting in drafting of legal reports, contracts, appeals, pleadings and submissions.
• Assisting the Senior Attorney on various cases and legal proceedings.
• Maintaining a report of ongoing cases and updating clients on case progress.
• Keeping up-to-date with any changes in the legislation.

Qualification, Experience & Knowledge
• Bachelor’s degree in Law from a reputable university;
• Admitted to the Kenyan Bar as an advocate;
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a law firm or corporate legal department;
• ( CPS ) Qualification is an added advantage;
• Sound knowledge of Kenyan law, regulations, and industry practices;
• Strong legal research, analytical, and drafting skills;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and a strong commitment to maintain confidentiality;
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively;
